Amhara and Tigray Regions, and Addis Ababa

2017 - 2018

SPECT provided training to 65 healthcare workers, 27 of whom participated in our Training of Trainers (ToT) Course and have since trained over 250 additional health care professionals on sterile processing techniques. Our work in Ethiopia was made possible with support from Assist International through the Safe Surgery 2020 initiative, funded by the GE Foundation, which also included working with the Ministry of Health to update the country’s Infection Control Manual governing sterile processing practices in all Ethiopian hospitals. We also partnered with Lifebox to develop and teach a safer surgical instrument workshop, funded by an Izumi Grant.

Thank you for the training you’ve provided us. Because of this training, we’re now able to practice a scientific sterilization technique. I’ve already distributed all the equipment we received to each of the sterilization areas. We appreciate all of the support and encouragement.
