Assistant Healthcare Educator (Volunteer)

Purpose: To assist with preparation and delivery of Medical Device Reprocessing courses being delivered to hospital and clinic staff in limited resource countries. Plans for 2017 include training in the African countries of Benin, Ethiopia and Cameroon.

Job Description

  • Assist SPECT’s Educator in preparing and presenting educational courses
  • Assist in preparation and delivery of assessment materials (quizzes, tests, attendance records, etc.)
  • Assist with coordinating catering for classroom sessions (when required)
  • Assist with translation of documents from French to English and reverse (if required)
  • Assist with setting up classrooms in preparation for teaching (i.e. connect laptop to LCD, set up screen or select projection wall, prepare seating arrangements, etc.)
  • Follow instructions/directions of SPECT’s Educator

Qualifications 

  • Medical Device Reprocessing Certificate (preferred)
  • University degree or College certificate in a health care field (required)
  • International teaching experience an asset
  • Familiarity with medical terms relating to Sterile Processing
  • Teaching experience in a health care environment
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity and awareness
  • Able to take direction and work as part of a team
  • Able to travel for 2-4 weeks at a time
